walking in the snow JĪmbassadors and people who know our city are essential as there are so many moments in a day where you can point someone to a business be it a restaurant or a wool shop. I have this cool safety bar attached to my bike so Luke and I can go anywhere safely. My favourite sport is biking with my dog Luke. It’s exciting to receive these nominations specially as it demonstrated that we’re doing something right. ![]() Since taking over Topaz we have received multiple nominations for Business of the Year, Community Booster Award, Service Excellence and Entrepreneur of the Year through the Chamber of Commerce. We also host over 50 local artisans in our store something I’m very proud of. Our commitment to our community and what we can do goes far beyond our city limits to include international programs such as Beading For Life, Made By Survivors and Kenya Beads believing that it behooves us as a retailer to support international Fair Trade and Community Sustainability projects. We have since become involved with and support over 60 local charities and community groups in any way we can from offering product and services for fund raising to going out into our schools and hosting a beading class to grade 4 children. Having worked in the social services field for over 35 years I began to look at being a store owner as much more than a retail space. We love our customers and Luke my dog enjoys being the official store greeter. We are constantly adding newlines and classes for the Do It Yourself’er. where does your imagination take you? Our store boasts beads from around the world in every shape and size from Mood beads to African Trade Beads. ![]() Our passion is jeweler design and creation guided by a simple statement of. From that little store we expanded so much that we had to relocate to our current location on Ogilvie St. ![]() Together we’d vend around BC until the opportunity presented itself to purchase Topaz Bead Gallery 12 years ago. I began taking an interest when I discovered that my eye for design and colour could add something special to Chris’ pieces. He, the metal work teacher who could create an extraordinary piece using a variety of metals. This passion took a turn when I met Chris and we started making jewelry together. An avid camper and canoeist we take every opportunity to camp, canoe, fish and relax in the great outdoors surrounding PG. Raised in Prince Rupert I now reside in PG with my long time partner Chris, our dog Luke and a cat named Hank.
